This Whale

All I do is sing all day
Symphonies for the waves
Hearing tales of ocean tails
Mother listen for this wail
Mother listen for this whale

Icarus

The sun follows a lonely trail
It's all we can see in the sky
My father whiles his days away
Dreaming of a better goodbye
The sun rises again today
But today I see more of the sky
Like harpy with such a pretty face
I look good Helios in the eye
Icarus, Icarus, what have you done?
You know you were not her only son
Icarus, Icarus, were you so wrong?
To take your final seconds peering
At the spectrum that we all come from
I'm falling like a stone going home to earth
I'm falling like a stone from the sky
I hope they'll say my name someday
For the glory I saw with my own two eyes
Icarus, Icarus, what have you done?
You know you weren't her only son
Icarus, Icarus, were you so wrong?
To take your final seconds peering
At the spectrum that we all come from

Waterfall

Sitting in the middle of a stream, head in a waterfall
I thought that I could get rid of the want to want at all
But I left my will in the stream enchanted
Went back to a life abandoned months ago
Waking in the mdidle of the night to a face that I couldn't see
Damn the feelings, push them out through song or poetry
My waking life was a life enchanted
My dreams were for a girl abandoned months ago
I count off my days one by one, line by line
And use funny marks to record how I spend my time
And when I'm ensnared I think back to goodbyes
That I shared months ago
Standing in the presence of a king with a face that had never moved
Asking for the favor of a glance to have all my veils removed
A voice I heard when I was haunted
Reminded me of a life that I wanted months ago
I count off my days one by one, line by line
And use funny marks to record how I spend my time
And when I'm impaired I think back to goodbyes
That I shared months ago

Left my home for a home that I knew
Left a nest in the tree to explore its roots
Flying and falling are sometimes the same
When you land, you look back at the place from where you came
Turning stones in the tongue of my kin
Facing east, being, becoming, begin, and begin
Flying and falling are somehow the same
When you land, you look back at the place...
